We have been reading the story of The Green Ship by Quentin Blake. The story is about a boy and a girl who want to go on an adventure. They climb over a wall and see a green ship. A lady called Mrs Tredegar shows them an atlas and they begin an imaginary voyage around lots of different countries.
We have been painting with water colours to create dark and light pictures to reflect the storm in The Green Ship story. In the ship, the children are getting really worried as they don’t know what to do. They write a message to put in a bottle and throw it in the sea. We think they are trying to get help.
We have written some messages, imagining what the children’s message might have been. We wrote SOS which means Save Our Souls. We have tea-stained some paper to make it look old.
We have enjoyed painting as we like art. We have used lots of descriptive words during literacy to explain the story. The girl in the story helps the boy, showing respect and harmony. Learning the story has helped our literacy and writing skills.
