Environmental Garden

Edible Playground at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show
After winning a gold award for their entry at the Chelsea Flower Show, Dorset Cereals decided to create another, bigger Edible Playground for the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. We are thrilled that it also won a gold medal and the award for best show garden. We are really lucky that it has now been given a permanent home at Holy Trinity Primary School.

The garden was designed by Nick Williams-Ellis, was built by garden construction company Goddard Landscapes and grown here in Dorset .  Parents helped rebuilding the garden where the old Nursery used to be.

The garden is brimming with colourful and tasty plants, from Pink Passion chard to blueberries, strawberries, sweetcorn, Welsh onions, Corsican mint and lots more.

The Edible Playground Scheme

Dorset Cereals heard about an amazing scheme created by Screen Bites, Dorset's Food Film Festival, which focuses on local food and healthy eating, and decided to find out more...

The scheme was set up in 2007. It began working with four Dorset schools. The schools were supported in growing food and then shown how to make their produce into fabulous meals.

Alongside activity in the garden and kitchen, the children have fun finding out about lots of different foods, focusing particularly on what is grown locally. Visits to local growers and farms are part of the experience.

The Edible Playground project is a Dorset-born initiative that provides schools with gardening equipment, seeds, experience and information to help them establish a food-producing garden in their grounds. .
