State Funeral, Monday 19th September – School will be closed

It is with the most profound sadness that we mourn the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Almost all of us alive today have known only this great monarch as our Queen.  Her life of service, of constancy and faithfulness, underpinned by her own very personal faith, has been an inspiration to people across the world.  Seventy years ago, the Queen asked us to pray that God would grant her wisdom and strength: these prayers that were answered in abundance.

Now we continue to pray: for her family and all who grieve, and for all of us as we come to terms with the loss of our Queen.

Her Majesty was the head of the Church of England, and our Monarch.

As a school, we shall pay our respects to Her Majesty over the coming days of national mourning. We have resources to help us support the children with remembering Her Majesty the Queen’s life, marking her death, celebrating her role both as a servant leader and in the life of the commonwealth. Our Pastoral team are also available, should any child require additional support.

The official date of the State Funeral is Monday 19th September. This day will be a bank holiday and school will be closed on this day as a mark of respect.
