As part of our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory topic, we have completed our chocolate wrappers. They have been photocopied and shrunk down to fit around small bars of chocolate.
We will be sending all of the wrappers to the House of Dorchester Chocolate factory in Poundbury who are going to judge the best design. There will be a first, second and third prize awarded!
We have been looking at Flanimals – a series of books by Ricky Gervais. We were shown pictures of Flanimals, including a Glonk which is a green blob which does nothing and then dies! We had to design our own Flanimals and write a descriptive paragraph about them. We used embedded clauses, conjunctions, adverbial phrases and adjectives.
We took inspiration from the pictures to draw and colour our own pictures. We made up names, including ‘Flamelia’, ‘Bluey Redspots’, ‘Nature Gobbler’ and Electrobuzz’. We then thought about the diet and habits of our Flanimals. Some of them ate plants and slugs. One of our Flanimals ate another Flanimal called ‘Rainbow Green’ when it was angry. We really used our imagination. We learnt that all the Flanimals have different ways of doing things.
