All Saints visit
A group of 20 Year 5 children visited All Saints School for a variety of activities; PE, Food Tech and Media Studies.
In PE we learnt to play basketball. We were split into teams of 4 and played a small play-off match.
In Food Tech we made calzone, which is a folded pizza. We were given balls of dough which we rolled out into a circle and placed onto a baking tray. We then topped it with tomato sauce, peppers, cheese and mushrooms. We baked the calzone and ate them for lunch. We had to wash up the utensils and baking trays and tidy them all away.
In Media Studies we made magazine covers. We chose from a selection of pictures, eg Harry Potter, TV celebrities, YouTubers and footballers and added pieces of paper which we decorated with barcodes and text to create a magazine cover. Here are some examples of our covers (click images to enlarge):
We really enjoyed our visit to All Saints.
For our English work, we are learning the poem ‘The Highwayman’ by Alfred Noyes. We acted out scenes from the poem and took photos which we then stuck in our English books and labelled them with the characters and what they were doing. This helped us understand the story and why they characters were doing what they were doing. We worked in table groups and decided amongst ourselves which characters we would play. We worked together in harmony and respected each others ideas.
