Bonjour et bienvenue. At HTP we understand that our pupils are growing up and living in a multi-cultural world. Therefore, learning a modern foreign language is both necessary and exciting. We aspire for our children to develop an interest and curiosity about languages with a desire to continue their language learning beyond KS2. We encourage children’s confidence to communicate in a foreign language and strive to stimulate their awareness of cultural differences. In our lessons we aim to lay the foundations for future language learning by introducing the core skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing in a foreign language. It is our intention that by the end of our children’s primary education, they will have acquired the confidence and skills and knowledge to communicate in French with others. We hope that our children will leave with an understanding of how important languages can be in their future life choices and that it can open doors to opportunities within the wider world.
